CLASS II: Around the world with Cabernet Sauvignon

$65/PersonSaturday, February 20th, 4-6 PM

A mere whiff of its noble concentration of cedar and blackcurrants is enough to send most wine lovers into a state of euphoria.  Cabernet is known for being the red grape of Bordeaux, and few are immune to its bold representations from California, but this grape is quite the international traveler.  Today, most every wine growing country in the world is producing Cabernet, either as a single varietal or in blends.  Join us as we explore this amazing grape and the wines being made from it around the world.

CLASS III: Sicilian Food & Wine

$75/Person Saturday, February 27th, 4 PM to 6 PM

Italy is home to over 1000 indigenous grape varietals, however wine is grown in almost every nook and cranny of this spectacular winemaking country.  Instead of taking on Italy as a whole we will be narrowing our focus on the island of Sicily.  Sicily is a large producer of wines and has undergone many changes in their winemaking industry over the past 20 years.  Come try the amazing foods and wines from this beautiful Italian island.

Please Note: This class will be held at VERO Midtown only

CLASS IV: Wines of Argentina & Chile

$65/Person Saturday, March 6th, 4-6 PM

The rise in wine consumption around the world has lit a fire with many wine-producing countries acting as a push to experiment with new varietals and raise the standards they hold themselves to.  South America, originally settled by Eastern Europeans has a long tradition of making wines.  Chile and Argentina grow varietals that were brought over with these early settlers and now produce wines that are unique in the winemaking world due to climate and soils that are found here and nowhere else.  If the only wines that come to mind when thinking of these countries is Chilean Carmenere and Argentinean Malbec then this is a class you definitely need to check out.

CLASS V: The Wine & Cheese of France

$65/PersonSaturday, March 13th, 4-6 PM

There is an old saying when it comes to pairing food and wine, “what grows together, goes together” and this is true not just of things grown but made.  Most have heard of, or are familiar, with the exceptional pairing of Blue Cheese and Sauternes, but this is only one of such ethereal marriages when it comes to cheese and wine.  This class will focus on the wide gamut of cheeses produced in France and the how and why behind pairings wines with them.

CLASS VI: The Family of Pinots

$65/PersonSaturday, March 20th, 4-6 PM

When most people hear the word Pinot, Pinot Noir comes immediately to mind.  Pinot, however, is known for its ability to easily mutate, producing new varietals or simply new vines both to the excitement and behest of wine growers all over the world.  Pinot Grigio of Italy, Pinot Gris or Oregon and Australia, Pinot Meunier of Champagne, and the list goes on.  All of these grapes and their wines are from the wonderful Pinot family.  Here our focus will be on the “science” of this family of grapes, the gamut of flavors and colors, tasting beautiful “Pinots” from all over the world.

CLASS VII: Organic & Biodynamic Food & Wine

$75/PersonSaturday, March 27th, 4-6 PM

There is a push all over the world to “Go Green”, giving back to the planet that we take so much from to ensure its endurance for future generations.  This awareness has changed the way we do many things in our lives, and agriculture and its industry have stepped up to the plate to play a part in this consciousness.  In years past the mere utterance of Organic or Biodynamic wine production brought a slight snarl to the lips of most wine drinkers, believing that most wines in this category were somehow of inferior quality and taste.  Today, this image and the wines produced by these standards have not only become mainstream in the amount and style that are produced but also in the quality.  We will focus on Organic and Biodynamic practices involved in winemaking and try wines and foods in this very environmentally conscious method.  Wines will be paired with fresh seasonal locally grown foods.
